R.I.P Iz The Wiz
As most people know, Iz The Wiz passed away to the heavens last week, it’s an absolute shame to lose one of the true legends and creators of this game.
Rest in Peace Iz The Wiz from the whole of the WritersDelight Team – a true inspiration!
Steam156 has kindly given us a few pictures and a quote taken from his flickr Thank you!
“It is a sad day…
Today I received a text message it read have you heard about Iz the Wiz, I knew straight away what it was about and my heart sunk. I first met mike in 1990 on one of my visits to New York he arranged for me to meet him and the rest of the guys and take me to the Amtrak hall of fame. I remember there was me Mike, Sach, Cav, Kirs, Frame, Sar, we had a great day and many laughs, Mike looked after me and kept me safe and looked out for me. We became good friends and he invited me to join the Master Blasters with him. I was honoured to become a member,
In 1991 I organized the Icons show at Fairfield halls in Croydon England, There was about 20 of the best UK talent and I also invited Mike and Sar to take part in this show. I remember Mike coming to England and staying at my Nan’s house with me, He loved my Nan’s cooked English breakfast, The show was a massive success I remember the opening night and people going mad to see Mike and Sar.
That was the last time I saw Mike which is nearly 19 years ago now. I feel sad that I will never see him again and I wish I had made more effort to see him in the last 19 years. I have met nearly everyone possible around the world in the graff game and Mike was a guy with a big heart and a lot of time for people. There was no big ego with him he was just a genuinely good person that would do anything he could for you.
I will miss you Mike and I write these words with a tear in my eye, I am glad I got to know you and I will cherish the memories I have of you.
God bless and rest in Peace. Steam156, TMB
I took this photo of Mike in London in 1991″
